Are new energy efficient kitchen appliances tax deductible?

Mike E asked:

I purchased new kitchen appliances this year (stove, dishwasher and fridge) that totalled over $5,000. Can I deduct this on my income taxes b/c they are energy efficient?

No. There were credits for the manufacturers, but not for the buyers.

There are specific items you can buy that may be eligible for a credit on an individual tax return. I would review the following link to get details.

Appears to me that the items you listed may fall under the “$300 for each item of qualified energy efficient property” line item. Good luck.
